The Importance of Residential Soil Aeration for Fall
Fall lawn care for residential clients include three core services that are bundled together for comprehensive care. These services include soil aeration (core aeration), overseeding, and top dressing.
Soil Aeration
Aeration involves removing a one-half inch wide plug of grass and soil. These plugs are approximately three inches in length. The plug removal helps minimize soil compaction and increases gas exchange and water supply to grass roots. Plugs are not discarded; they are left on the ground, adding more nourishment to the soil.
Overseeding
Overseeding refers to spreading more grass seed on a lawn. This encourage more growth, for a healthier and lush lawn.
Top Dressing
Top dressing adds a fine layer of organic material on top of the lawn, improving the soil biology with organic matter and nourishing microorganisms from the compost.
