Mulch Installation (& Other Ground Cover Materials)

Add Uniformity & Interest with Ground Cover & Mulch Installation

Mulch and compost are the two most popular types of organic ground cover material, and each material offers advantages and disadvantages. Gravel is another popular choice for those looking for an inorganic option.

Mulch

Adding mulch aids the property by mitigating soil erosion. Mulch also improves the vitality of the soil, helps lock in moisture, limits temperature changes in the soil, and helps stops invasive weeds from proliferating.

Pinnacle offers three types of mulch:

  • Natural hardwood

  • Color-enhanced mulch

  • Playground compliant mulch

Compost

This material is triple-ground mulch mixed with organic material. Compost nourishes soil with a high amount of microbial life, improves the retention of moisture and nutrients, and improves overall soil conditions.

The fine texture of mulch, though, makes it easy to blow away. It also can influence weed growth and does not offer good insect resistance.

Gravel

This material can be basic or decorative. Gravel is available in a variety of sizes and hues, but this material will not decompose. It also doesn't nourish soil and can retain heat.
